As part of its commitment to supporting the development of a skilled global workforce, 3Dconnexion will once again be sponsoring the Mechanical Engineering Design – CAD category at the international WorldSkills competition, equipping all 20 CAD workstations with a SpacePilot PRO 3D mouse. WorldSkills London 2011 will take place from 5-8 October 2011 at ExCeL, London. Young people from around the world aged 25 and under will compete to be the best at their chosen skill. WorldSkills London 2011 will be the 41st WorldSkills competition and the third time the event has been hosted in the UK.
“Many of the students taking to the global stage in the engineering competition at WorldSkills London 2011 will be familiar with 3Dconnexion 3D mice but may not have had an opportunity to try one,” says 3Dconnexion Vice President of Products, Antonio Pascucci. “To prepare students for their professional careers it is important to give them access to the best tools available. Giving competitors a chance to push the boundaries of their design capabilities with a SpacePilot PRO will deliver lasting value in the fields of engineering and computer-aided design. We are very happy to be sponsoring the WorldSkills competition once again.”
Held every two years, WorldSkills is the largest international skills competition in the world and London looks set to be the largest WorldSkills event yet. An estimated 150,000 visitors will watch 1,000 competitors from over 50 nations competing in 45 vocational skill categories over four days. Teams compete to win gold, silver and bronze medals, while medallions for excellence are awarded to competitors who achieve the international standard. Participating countries hold extensive regional heats before selecting their national teams, so the competition truly represents the best of nations.
Aidan Jones, Chief Executive of WorldSkills London 2011 comments: “WorldSkills London promises to be a truly world class event. Since winning the bid in 2006 we have been working hard to ensure it is the best WorldSkills event yet, showcasing the skills that shape our world. This would not be possible without the support of our sponsors who are leading the way in promoting skills excellence and helping to train our young people for the future.”
